Israel Now “Very Focused” On Fighting Hezbollah, IDF Chief of Staff Says

by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – While still bombarding Gaza and fighting Hamas on the ground following that Islamic terror group’s October 7 massacre against Israel, the IDF [Israel Defense Forces] is now “very focused” on combatting the Hezbollah Islamic terror group in Lebanon, Algemeiner reports.

Both Hamas and Hezbollah are supported by Iran’s Islamic jihadist government, a regime which has repeatedly expressed its desire to see the annihilation of Israel.

Immediately after the Hamas attack on Israel in October, Hezbollah announced its solidarity with the terror group and began firing thousands of rockets and drones at northern Israeli towns from southern Lebanon. Some 80,000 Israelis have been forced to evacuate their homes in the north. The Hezbollah strikes have also resulted in Israeli civilian casualties.

“The IDF is very focused on combat with Hezbollah. I think that the number of strikes in the past month, operatives eliminated, rockets, and infrastructure destroyed is very high,” Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, chief of staff of the IDF said in a statement on Friday, September 7.

“The Northern Command, with all of the IDF’s capabilities, is striking a lot of Hezbollah’s capabilities in Lebanon before they can attack us, and at the same time, we are preparing for offensive moves within the arena,” Halevi added. “I think that this combination of very significant strikes on Hezbollah to reduce the threats to the residents in the north, including in the Golan Heights, is very, very significant together with readiness for an offensive going forward that we are very engaged in.”

While talks on negotiating a hostage-ceasefire with Hamas have currently stalled, Israeli officials have said they are willing to seek a diplomatic solution with Hezbollah, Algemeiner reports. At the same, officials have stated, the IDF is ready to launch a major military operation against the Islamic group if that is necessary to ensure Israelis can return to their homes.
