Trump Vows To Appeal Hush Money Verdict

By Stefan J. Bos, Chief International Correspondent Worthy News

NEW YORK, USA (Worthy News) – Donald J. Trump vowed Friday to appeal a New York court verdict after he became the first former U.S. President to be convicted of a crime.

Speaking to reporters, Trump called it a “scam” that a jury found him guilty Thursday on 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal a hush money payment to an adult film actress.

During Friday’s remarks, Trump renewed his attacks on the judge and prosecutor and aired other grievances about the process, making what his critics said were “false and misleading” claims about the court system.

Trump faces a maximum sentence of 1⅓ to four years in prison, but due to his age and his lack of a prior criminal record, he could serve a shorter sentence or no term of incarceration at all, experts said.

Neither conviction nor sentence prevents Trump from serving as U.S. president, though it wasn’t clear whether he could run the country from behind bars.

Yet U.S. President Joe Biden, his main political rival, was quick to defend the American justice system, blasting Trump for attacking the case that resulted in a guilty verdict a day earlier.

Trump is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, days before the start of the Republican National Convention, where he was expected to be elected as the Republican nominee for

He spoke to the media in the Trump Tower in Manhattan, New York, where he famously launched his election campaign that led him to the White House, which he wants to repeat.

Trump’s campaign took flight in the spring of 2023 for the least expected reason: A New York prosecutor indicted him for secretly paying an adult film actress to hide an alleged adulterous affair from voters.

And with his conviction in the box, an influx of donations has already reached his campaign to “make America great again.”
