Israel Strikes Hezbollah Weapons Tunnels Across Lebanon

by Emmitt Barry, Worthy News Washington D.C. Bureau Chief

(Worthy News) – The Israel Defense Forces said Thursday that it carried out a series of airstrikes targeting underground Hezbollah weapons storage facilities across Lebanon, citing ongoing violations of ceasefire understandings.

According to the IDF, the strikes hit tunnel shafts at Hezbollah sites in the Marjaayoun area of southern Lebanon, near Baalbek in the eastern Beqaa Valley, and in the Hermel area of northern Lebanon. The military said it had identified Hezbollah activity at the locations in recent months, activity it described as a breach of agreements between Israel and Lebanon.

Following the strikes, the IDF reported that secondary explosions were detected, indicating the presence of weapons stored at the sites. In a statement, the military said it will “continue to operate to remove any threat against the State of Israel.”

Separately, the IDF said troops operating in the Gaza Strip near the Yellow Line earlier Thursday identified a terrorist approaching Israeli forces and posing an immediate threat. The individual was killed, the military confirmed.

The IDF emphasized that forces under the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to act against any immediate threats.
