Our Hope…

Miryam, the mother of Yeshua, is the fourth most mentioned person in the Bible after Yeshua (Jesus), Peter and Paul. (Mother of Yeshua). Yet, there isn’t much written about her in the Renewed Covenant. We know that she agreed to be the mother of Yeshua; we know she was at the wedding in Cana; we know she was at Yeshua’s crucifixion, burial and ascension; as well as the giving of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) in Acts to name a few.

However, we do not read in Scripture how she may have felt as her son was beaten, tortured and slaughtered for the sake of providing redemption to humankind. Or any ordinary or extraordinary events that may have happened as Yeshua was growing up, except for Yeshua teaching at the temple at the age of 12. However, her pain, grief and horror as the events of Yeshua’s arrest and death unfolded, and the agony she must have endured during this time had to be excruciating. Miryam, Hebrew for Mary, I believe knew G-D’s plan, but wept (an understatement) during the horrendous events of Yeshua’s trial and death.

Yet, conversely, her overwhelming relief and jubilation (an understatement) upon seeing Him after the resurrection must have been exceedingly delightful for her. I can only imagine these two polarizing events: her enormous sorrow and extreme joy…her son’s death and resurrection. There are no words to describe the plausible depth of her feelings.

As a mom and grandmother, I can’t wrap my head and heart around why Yeshua had to die in such a brutal manner.  And, why would He even want to, for such sinful creatures as ourselves! Still, G-D’s ways and thoughts extend far beyond my/our understanding, and I am grateful that He has provided salvation for us. I would think Miryam might have had conflicting thoughts as well. However, because of her obedience she bore the emotional burden of His death.

I am encouraged by Miryam as I reflect on her pain and joy. I look forward to seeing ABBA, Yeshua, my son and all my family members who have passed on. For now, I am bearing the pain of my son’s passing, but I am looking forward to seeing him again. Miryam’s appearance, though brief in the Scriptures, exemplifies obedience to the will of Our Father and love for her Son and Savior.

This is the season of Passover, First Fruits, Good Friday, Resurrection of our Savior and counting of the Omer. During this season, as believers, our focus ought to be on our relationship with ABBA and to each other. Yeshua’s death on the cross was the ultimate act of love. He gave His life so that we might have life in Him. Yet, we must remember the cost for our redemption in Him and live accordingly.  Our freedom from eternal death requires our faith, our allegiance, our love, our trust, our obedience and more in Yeshua. (John 14:15-17) Yeshua’s life, death and resurrection are supernatural love events which keeps giving if we choose Him. Yeshua the last “Adam” has become a life-giving Spirit. (I Corn 15:45) Is He your choice?

My point, during this season of reflection and renewal let us remember who and why we worship the Living King who sits on the throne next to Our Heavenly Father. Let us remember the conflicting feelings Miryam probably had when our Savior freely died for us.  Reflect on your loved ones who have died and rejoice in the hope of the resurrection. (I Corn 15)

We do not understand the plans of our Creator, but we are obliged to worship, trust and obey Him. We are obliged to worship and serve the King of kings and the L-RD of lords every day. We are directed to have no other gods as a substitute for HIM. During this season, let us choose ABBA through Yeshua. Let us choose the PROVIDER of our hope in the resurrection.

In Him,

Dr. Dee

Divisiveness Everywhere

Divisiveness is Destroying America - Renew Democracy Initiative
Photo taken from Google: RDI (Renew Democracy Initiative)

It is everywhere…Look at some of the sporting events and backs are being turned to the flag during the National Anthem while representing the United States of America! Unbelievable! Leaders in this country declaring that African Americans are still in slavery, oppressed, shackled, poor, mentally incompetent and without hope! Really?! White people are the oppressors and should spend the rest of their lives apologizing for the sins of their forefathers and live in shame and regret just for being white! Really?! Critical race theorists… How woke is this?

Divisiveness is a glaring flare in our society today! We, Americans are divided across all lines in every single area of our lives. We are divided from the white house to the poor house; from the rich to the poor; from the educated to the uneducated; from family members to enemies; from cultures, race, ethnicity, gender, religious persuasion, political affiliation, and the list goes on! Listening to the news and seeing the debacle of this country under the present leadership is exhausting at best and disheartening to say the least. There are few positive words for what we see in current America. But, with G-D…our hope is not in vain.

If you turn away from following Him, He will once more abandon them in the wilderness, and you will destroy all these people” (Numbers 32:15)

Is this verse not apropos for what is happening in America today? As a nation, have we obeyed the teachings of our G-D? Have we not turned away from Him? Have we obeyed Him (the One true and living G-D) from the depth of our souls to our outward appearance displayed to others? What are we doing to show our love and worship to our Creator, Abba? Are we doing anything or are we sitting waiting to be slaughtered like stupid sheep? Do we believe in the verse “…occupy until I come.” (Luke 19:13) Do we even care?

Each of us has to answer the aforementioned questions and more for ourselves. No one can make anyone do anything. However, our apathy for our community/country and others affects each of us. Now, I completely understand biblical prophecy and the things to come in terms of destruction and eventual newness. Biblical prophecy is not the point of this blog.

My premise, we are to do the work of Abba as if He will never return; AND  as if he is returning in the next few minutes. Henceforth, when He does return; He is pleased with our service. At the end of the day all that we see around us…political mayhem, death, destruction, poverty, murder, theft, terrorism, human trafficking, etc. are all byproducts of evil. Our job as believers in the most HIGH G-D is to be the salt and light in a dying world and to be actively involved in making a positive difference.

What is our job? (No particular order and a partial list)

  • Prayers…our families, our country, our friends, our co-workers, our enemies
  • Read G-D’s Word and Believe it
  • Repent and seek the grace, wisdom, direction of the Father
  • Build a relationship with Abba (Father, G-D) in order to grow spiritually
  • Speak the truth of G-D’s Word
  • Get involved…financially, volunteer, write letters, share your gifts
  • Look and act like you believe in the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe
  • Cast down ungodly fear
  • Cast down hatred, bitterness, anger and malice – ask for forgiveness
  • Seek G-D daily and constantly
  • Do it all again each and every day.

Romans 16:17–18 (ESV): I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.  For such persons do not serve our L0rd Christ, (Yeshua the Messiah)  but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.

Let us not be deceived, lazy, apathetic or walk in self-idolatry. Let us be mindful of the divisiveness nipping at us each day, which attempts to silence our voices and snuff out our witness. Let us choose to walk in the faith and boldness which only comes from belonging to Yeshua (Jesus) and doing G-D’s will. Let us distance ourselves from those who desire to deceive, kill and destroy, but remember to pray for them. (Matt. 5:43)

Prayer: Abba, we worship and adore You because You are worthy of all the praise, glory, honor and more. Thank you for giving us access to You through Your Son, Yeshua and our Savior. Forgive us our transgressions please, and teach us how to live in ways which honor  You. Then boldly lead us to accomplish Your purposes for Your glory. As You commanded we lift up our enemies and ask that you destroy their works.

Much love and gratitude towards You Abba for all things. In Yeshua,  I pray. Amen.

Shalom,

Dr. Dee

2017 Spring Break

Arrived at the Atlanta airport on Thursday, March 30th with every intention on catching a flight to Denver, CO on a buddy pass. I arrived at the airport at 4:15 PM and left the ATL airport at 10:30 PM and returned to my home. All flights were full and I was left behind. Yes, I was a little disappointed, but not discouraged.

Saturday, April 1st arrived at Atlanta airport at 6:00 AM with every intention and desire to catch a flight to Denver, CO on a buddy pass. All flights were full up to 2:00 PM, but I was still hopeful and met someone. We spent the next four hours chatting. It was a very nice meeting and certainly a G-d thing!

At 6:05 PM the flight leaving for Denver, CO as well as the remaining flights until 9:45 PM were full, and again, I was left behind. Yes, a little disappointed, but not discouraged. I called Uber and had a very nice driver. I sat in the front, and we chatted and exchanged cell numbers. It was very pleasant. Secretly, I was a little nervous, because it was my first Uber ride. But, G-d, as always has a way of showing me who is truly in control.

All flights were booked, and only my luggage had a spring break in Denver. So, even though I had every intention and desire to fly out on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, I decided to have my bags flown back to Atlanta on Monday.

On Monday, April 3rd, my mom and I drove to the airport to pick up my bags. Again, on Monday the 3rd I was looking forward to flying to Denver, and a great friend of mine was going to drive me to the airport at 5:00 AM on Tuesday, April 4th.

Monday evening, I received a text that all flights were booked, and there was little chance I would get to Denver on a buddy pass  for the rest of the week. So, I decided to look for a ticket, for the remaining time I would have in Denver.  However, for the amount of the fare, it just did not seem practical for just three days. So, with a positive attitude, I realized that this Spring Break of 2017, Denver would not be graced with my presence. Yet, all was/is not lost.

Many positives came out of this experience as well as some lessons.

Lesson One – forget a buddy pass especially during a high-flying season.  Buy a ticket!

Lesson Two – focus on the positives and look for all the blessings in the midst of what could be very frustrating. (Yet again, a little sad, but never irate or discouraged.) I was determined to be led by G-d, and to focus on where He was leading. I can’t claim to be led by G-d, and then scream at Him when things look opposite of what I desire. Easy? What do you think? I digress…some encouraging things I realized.

Positives:

  1. Ride to the airport – Thursday afternoon (friend from work)
  2. Picked up from the airport at 10:30 PM during a horrible thunder storm (son)
  3. Taken back to the airport the next day at 5:15 AM (son) – I live about 45 minutes away from the airport without traffic and bad weather.
  4. Picked up from the airport at 10:30 PM (Very nice Uber driver)
  5. Met someone at the airport and spent 4 hours together, exchanged information, promised to stay in-touch.
  6. Helped by someone else who lives in Denver when I got confused about travel gate
  7. Chatted with a very nice person as we waited for the next flight
  8. Saw a co-worker in the women’s restroom on her way to Florida
  9. Full refund on my buddy pass
  10. All luggage returned from Denver with excellent customer service
  11. Nice outing with my mom when we went to pick up my luggage and glorious weather
  12. Safety
  13. Family/friends checking on me to make sure I was fine

My point, I am going to Colorado, but apparently, this spring break was not the appointed time. So, for the rest of my stay-vacation, fun and rest was on the menu.

And, fun and rest it was!
